报告题目：Social Media Cloud Computing and Recommendation

报告简介：Today's Internet has witnessed the rapid convergence of online social network service and online multimedia service - a massive number of heterogeneous multimedia contents are shared among users in the online social network. The unique patterns of how multimedia contents are generated, distributed and consumed, and the large-scale, dynamic and complex social network topology impose great challenges for social multimedia applications. To realize the potential of social multimedia, these challenges need to be addressed. This talk first presents the concept and framework of social multimedia cloud computing, and then discusses the design space of the infrastructure/platform services and social multimedia applications. Last, we will use social media recommendation as an application example to present interest-oriented social media recommendation and influence-oriented social media recommendation.

报告人简介: Wenwu Zhu is "1000 People Plan" Professor of Computer Science Department at Tsinghua University. Prior to his current post, he was a Senior Researcher and Research Manager at Microsoft Research Asia. He was the Chief Scientist and Director at Intel Research China from 2004 to 2008. He worked at Bell Labs as Member of Technical Staff during 1996-1999.

Wenwu Zhu is a Fellow of the IEEE. He has published over 200 referred papers in the areas of multimedia communications and networking, and wireless communications and networking. He is inventor or co-inventor of over 40 patents. His current research interests are in the area of multimedia computing, communications and networking, including multimedia cloud computing, social media computing, and wireless multimedia communications. He has been on the editorial board for IEEE Transactions on Multimedia and IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology. He served as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, and Guest Editor for the Proceedings of the IEEE, IEEE JSAC, IEEE T-CSVT, and IEEE Wireless Communication Magazine. He received the Best Paper Award from IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology in 2001, the Best Paper Award in Multimedia Communication Technical Committee (MMTC) of IEEE Communications Society in 2004, and the Best Paper Award from IGI Global: International Journal of Handheld Computing Research in 2010. He is the past Chair of Visual Signal Processing and Communication Technical Committee of IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (2006-2008), and served in the Steering Committee of IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing (2007-2010). He currently serves as the Chair of IEEE Circuits and System Society Beijing Chapter, IEEE ISCAS steering committee, and advisory board of International Journal of Handheld Computing Research. He is TPC Co-Chair of IEEE ISCAS 2013.

Wenwu Zhu received the B.E. and M.E. degrees from National University of Science and Technology, China, in 1985 and 1988, respectively, the M.S. degree from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, and the Ph.D. degree from Polytechnic Institute of New York University, New York, in 1993 and 1996, respectively, in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
